One of the greatest perks of my job is not having to go to the office on Fridays. Although it’s a bit challenging to complete all 35 hours in just four days, having Fridays off is truly a sweet rest for me!

With R on vacation, A also gets to take a break from daycare occasionally. A feels it’s unfair that their older sibling gets to stay home while they have to go to daycare.

We decided not to send R to summer camp this year, and my husband took on the responsibility of looking after them. Initially, we thought of keeping A home too, but that would have affected our childcare subsidy, meaning we’d still have to pay for daycare. Since we might need daycare occasionally, we decided to keep A enrolled. During summer break, my husband picks A up around lunchtime.

Today is Friday, so I’m looking after the kids. Despite it being a sweet rest, I take care of the kids during the weekends while my husband focuses on his studies. The weather is too hot during the day, so we went out early in the morning for a walk and some time at the playground. The kids have grown so much; their scooter speed has really increased!

In the evening, we were invited to dinner by O. She’s heavily pregnant but insisted on cooking for us, which made me feel quite uneasy. Despite my efforts to dissuade her, she prepared a perfect meal, starting with appetizers. We enjoyed it so much, but I felt bad for her efforts.

There were dogs at our friend’s house, and another friend also brought their dog, so the kids had a great time watching them.

The two dogs didn’t seem to get along very well, though. The big dog was uncomfortable with the small dog’s intrusiveness.

R, who usually only plays chess with dad, enjoyed playing with another uncle. At home, dad never allows unlimited desserts, TV, or games, so the kids had a blast with these treats. My husband always claims to leave all parenting decisions to me but ended up asserting his opinions in various ways.
