Last year, I was a student, and since my husband was the sole earner, our income was low. This year, we are eligible to apply for a subsidy from the Winnipeg Leisure Guide. The Leisure Guide offers various activities in Winnipeg that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and are generally more affordable than private programs. Additionally, if your income is low, you can apply for a subsidy, which we plan to utilize fully.
You can browse the programs through the brochure available at the link below. There are various programs such as swimming, yoga, skating, art, dance, and more, making it fun to explore. We usually register for swimming classes, but children’s swimming classes are highly competitive, so it’s advantageous to click quickly as soon as registration opens to get the desired location and time.

When applying for the subsidy, you can receive credits for activities, but it’s also possible to apply for the subsidy if you only wish to use the facilities. Recently, my children have been going to the facilities with my husband on weekdays, but since we didn’t apply for the subsidy, we pay around $12 each time. Although it’s not expensive, we plan to visit frequently throughout the summer, so we applied for the subsidy. By applying, you can receive a Rechargeable 10-Visit Facility Pass.
To apply, you can visit the Recreation Fee Assistance Program link below, which details the application process. According to the qualifications, permanent residents or those with a certain income level are eligible.
